The Emmerling Community Park, located on Cove Run Road,  consists of a 59 acre parcel of land and was purchased by Indiana Township in 1968. Then, approximately 10 acres with a house was given to the township in 1972 by Dr. and Mrs. John F. Emmerling in memory of his parents Jane Beeson Emmerling and John F. Emmerling.  The park was originally referred to as "Cove Run Park", but was changed in 1972 in honor of the gift by Dr. and Mrs. Emmerling.

Facilities at the park include three picnic pavilions, three playing fields, a large parking lot, playground apparatus, public restrooms and a concession stand.  A walking trail follows Little Deer Creek as it meanders through the park.  The stream is stocked with trout.  The Emmerling House and Arboretum area, and a walking trail are located within the park.
